The latest section of the Loch Earn Railway Path to have been upgraded to all-ability status runs from the Glentarken Bridge to Derry Wood, just North of the Loch Earn Sailing Club. Direct access to this new section can be gained via the Glentarken Track that runs up from the A85, near the lay-by opposite the Sailing Club.
Special thanks go to Sustrans, NatureScot, Perth & Kinross Council, Paths for All, Aquila Ecology and the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority for their continuing support and funding; to Transport, Planning & Engineering for their Design and Project Management; to the Landowners, Mr Neil Gregory, Drummond Estates and their tenant at Woodhouse Farm, for their patience and cooperation; and lastly to AB Gairns for their outstanding construction work and commitment in delivering this phase of works.
The final three phases of the Upgrade Project for an all-ability route between Comrie and Lochearnhead are currently being planned. At this time, the whole route is passable but these last three unfinished sections, between St Fillans and Lochearnhead, are only possible on foot or mountain bike.
