Notice to Villagers & Visitors

Site works

Dear Villagers,

As discussed at our Community Council Meetings, we would like to inform you of the upcoming construction works commencing soon on two short sections of the Loch Earn Railway Path. The project involves the upgrade of the path on the redundant railway line along at Derry Wood and also further west nearer Lochearnhead. (Please see above more details regarding the Lochearnhead section.) The upgrade will result in a 3m wide sealed surface, providing much improved accessibility for all users.

The works will include tree clearance, earthworks and path construction within the former railway land area.

  • Start date: 26th January 2026 (There may be some preparatory work from w/b 19th.)
  • Expected completion date: 31st March 2026
  • Path closures in site area during working hours (07.30 – 17.30)
  • Onsite contact (during works): Jack McKinney 07928 494 959 Site foreman for McLaren Plant Ltd.
  • Out-of-hours contact: Bryce McLaren 07786 736 329.

Some noise and vehicle movement are expected during working hours, but every effort will be made to minimise disruption to local residents and the surrounding environment.

To ensure the project is delivered safely and swiftly we request that the path is closed from 07.30 to 17.30 each day within the site area marked above.  It will be made safe to use in the evenings and at the weekends if no work is taking place in these times.

We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while these improvements are carried out.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards,
Geoff Carter
