Even the P ‘ee’ can find no relief in St Fillans
The National Park Partnership Plan sets out how we will work together to achieve a shared vision for the area – The draft plan 2024-29 is supposed to outline and give an indication of how global and climate changes impact on the local communities. It states that together we must make transformational changes in the way that we live in, work in or visit the national park.
Here on Loch Earn we have been told we’re a ‘tourist hot spot’ yet both the National Park in particular and Perth & Kinross by default appear to treat us as irrelevant.
Loch Lomond & Loch Venacher get preferential treatment with more than adequate toilet and camping facilities, whilst here on Loch Earn ‘next to nothing’.
This year at St Fillans the toilets have been downgraded, the gents have been closed; the signage on the ladies reads ‘one in one out’. Without consultation the local authority, Perth & Kinross, have downgraded it to a Unisex toilet, despite the fact that there is nothing to indicate that this is the case.
The National Park is providing ‘so called’ official camp sites around the loch side, with no additional toilet facilities. Fishermen roll up, find the gent’s toilet locked and proceed to urinate behind the building, which is in a deplorable state of repair, with flaking paintwork, damaged fascia boarding and a jungle of weeds growing around the perimeter.
Don’t take my word for it, go and take a look for yourselves! If they can’t get the small issues sorted now? What hope is there for the larger issues in the future?
